Ypsilanti police investigating shots fired outside home

YPSILANTI, MI – Ypsilanti police are investigating shots fired from a moving vehicle outside a home early Monday morning.

Police were called Monday afternoon, Aug. 8, for a report of shots fire in the 200 block of Elm Street early in the morning, according to the Ypsilanti Police Department.

Officers investigating the shots fired were given a video recording from a resident’s Nest door surveillance camera which showed a light-colored sedan going north on Elm Street at about 4 a.m., around the time the shots were heard, police said.

The video, posted on the Ypsilanti Police Department’s recently created Facebook page, showed the car passing the home as two shots are heard about a second apart.

No injuries were reported, and no damage has been found at this time, police said.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Sgt. Jessica Lowry at 734-483-9510.
