AUBURN (WGME) -- Gifford’s Ice Cream says it has decided to close its family-owned stand in Auburn early for the season due to staffing issues.
“Like many businesses around the country and here in Maine, we have been working through significant staffing difficulties this summer, and our Auburn stand has proven to be the most challenging,” Gifford’s said.
Gifford’s says without adequate staffing they can’t provide a customer experience that meets their standards. This led the company to decide to close early.
The Auburn stand closed to customers on Sunday.
“We know this will be a disappointment to many in the community, and we are working hard to find a creative solution so that we can serve Gifford’s HomeMaine ice cream in the area,” Gifford’s said.
Gifford’s says it hopes to host a series of pop-ups with their new mobile Scoop Shack at various locations in the local community.
They say they will share these dates and locations on their social media accounts and through their newsletter.
“We look forward to being back next summer,” Gifford’s said.
