Four hotels under new management

Charlestowne Hotels, Davidson Hospitality Group and Pathfinder have all recently expanded their portfolios of managed properties.

Charlestowne expands Northeast presence
Charlestowne Hotels has continued its expansion in the Northeast with the takeover of Hotel Marcel in New Haven, CT, and with the opening of the Lockwood Hotel in Waterville, ME.

“At Charlestowne, we’re constantly seeking meaningful ways to provide value in new regions, and by venturing into New Haven and Waterville, we’re bringing our standard of customization and personalized service to towns that prioritize that for their visitors,” said Kyle Hughey, CEO, Charlestowne Hotels. “From location and history to culinary programming, both Hotel Marcel and Lockwood Hotel have all the elements necessary to offer their guests something special. We’re honored to join forces to debut an elevated hospitality experience to each of their respective communities.”

Hotel Marcel, an adaptive-reuse project, which opened in May, is expected to be the country’s first sustainable net-zero energy hotel. The former R&D facility for Armstrong Rubber Company has been transformed into a 165-room property with a goal of being fully self-sustaining, meaning its 1,000+ photovoltaic panels generate solar power that provides all electricity and energy required to operate the hotel. Hotel Marcel was designed to meet Passive House and LEED Platinum standards, and is fossil-fuel free. The hotel offers BLDG restaurant; access to nearby waterfront parks and trails; and 12 Tesla Supercharger stations.

“Hotel Marcel sets a standard for eco-accommodations in the U.S., and our sustainability efforts have put New Haven on the map as a hub of innovation and architectural creativity,” said Bruce Becker, owner, Hotel Marcel. “We wanted to partner with a management company that understands and values the diverse needs of unique properties and how to best elevate them, and its many staff members. Through a tailored management approach and the thoughtful hiring and retention of some of the industry’s most skilled hospitality experts, Charlestowne Hotels has identified the formula to help us generate a future as powerful as our building itself.”

Located near the Colby College campus, Lockwood Hotel will be the first newly built boutique hotel in Waterville in decades when it opens on Aug. 15. Waterville’s art scene is incorporated into the hotel with works from the Colby College Museum of Art on display throughout public spaces and the 53 guestrooms. Charlestowne Hotels’ in-house marketing and food and beverage teams worked hand-in-hand with Colby College to bring the spirit of Lockwood Hotel to life through its amenities, guest programming and the hotel’s new eatery, Front & Main, according to the company.

Davidson Hospitality Group selected to manage Royal Park Hotel
Davidson Hospitality Group has been selected by Fairwood Capital to manage Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, MI, under its lifestyle operating vertical, Pivot. Located 30 miles north of Detroit on the banks of the Paint Creek River, the 143-room property features architecture that is reminiscent of an English manor house surrounded by a lush, verdant landscape. This marks Davidson’s third hotel in the state of Michigan.

“As Midwest enthusiasts, we are genuinely proud to add this extraordinary lifestyle hotel to our growing portfolio,” said Thom Geshay, Davidson Hospitality Group CEO/president. “Through exceptional service delivery, revenue generation, integrated marketing and fiscal responsibility, our Pivot team is uniquely positioned to optimize returns and create value for our partners at Fairwood Capital.”

Todd Solmson, co-managing partner, Fairwood Capital, said, “Based on our longstanding relationship with Davidson and the company’s outstanding performance at Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa and the Little Rock Marriott, we remain confident that the team will bring the same disciplined approach, financial acumen and ownership mentality to this unique asset.”

Pathfinder adds Austin Hyatt Place to portfolio
Pathfinder Hospitality has added the Hyatt Place Austin/Lake Travis/Four Points to its portfolio.

Located in Northwest Austin, the property is close to Lake Travis. It has 95 guestrooms, Oasis restaurant, an almost 1,800-sq.-ft. meeting space and an outdoor pool.

This marks the 14th hotel managed by Pathfinder, with the new Aloft Austin Southwest slated to open in September.
