Coleman Park hitting contest fast approaching

Staff reports

The 36th annual Baseball Hitting Contest comes up on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Coleman Park in Lebanon.

Entry fee is $9 and there are six age categories with prizes for each winner and top finishers. Hitters get 25 pitches and musts bring their own bat and helmet.

Ken Smith looks out over a field that was once a Superfund site on the property in Hopewell Township on August 8, 2022. Now the site hosts a nature trail. This area is not part of the proposal for expanding the landfill, but is next to it. It was a Superfund site from 1987 until 2005.

All proceeds will be used to help maintain and improve the fields at Coleman Park and also be added to the park's trust fund.

The 36th annual Baseball Hitting Contest is set for next Saturday, Aug. 20.
