GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Literacy coaches from across the state are meeting in Traverse City to share teaching practices.
The Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators works with teachers and students to help improve learning skills.
Coaches will take what they learn from researchers at the advanced coaching institute and pass it along to students and educators in the classroom.
"The gap in opportunity that happened over the pandemic, literacy coaching becomes even more important because kids are returning to in-person learning with some gaps in their skills," said Sean Larosa, co-chair of the Early Literacy Task Force.
These literacy coaches will use what they learn from the General Education Leadership Network and work side-by-side with teachers to implement practices like interactive read alouds, playing with sounds and providing abundant reading materials.
