What were some key observations from the penultimate training camp practice for the Carolina Panthers at Wofford College in Spartanburg?

The Carolina Panthers are in the process of concluding what’s been a fascinating training camp before the eagerly-anticipated Fan Fest at Bank of America Stadium on Thursday and their first preseason game at the Washington Commanders this weekend. It’s been intense, hot, and productive in Spartanburg this summer, which should hopefully stand Matt Rhule and his squad in good stead as they go in search of improvements during the 2022 campaign.

There is still time for certain individuals to stake their claim for depth rises or spots on the 53-man roster. The Panthers haven’t set some areas in stone just yet, so watching how things transpire over the week ahead and especially when they lock horns with the New England Patriots during joint practices will tell us plenty about what this organization might be capable of next season.

Spirits are high within the camp and confidence is clearly growing in a more structured environment compared to what Carolina’s put together previously. Whether that translates to additional wins in the column is another matter.

With that being said, here are some key observations from practice Day 11 at Wofford College.

Carolina Panthers put on a grueling session

The Carolina Panthers went through a testing session on Tuesday that lasted 2.5 hours in stifling heat. This was a real challenge for all involved and the final time those on the first and second units will see the practice field in Spartanburg this summer.

Matt Rhule outlined his desire to get those further down the depth chart more involved on the final day leading up to their first preseason contest. This will give them a better indication of what’s expected on gameday and provides more established figures with a period of rest before some involvement of their own.

This was the longest and most intense practice of camp. A few players went into the treatment tent, which is hopefully not too serious in the grand scheme of things.
