Mrs. Elzie Janelle Abercrombie (Davis), 89, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022.

She was born Nov. 17, 1932, to her late parents Bernice (Quarles) and Harley Davis. She accompanied her husband Roy when he worked at the sawmill, often taking their toddler daughter, Helen, along with them.  She worked at Davenport Hosiery Mill before becoming a full-time, stay-at-home mother and homemaker. Janelle also assisted her husband on a multitude of projects and could be found laying down flooring with him at a new renovation project well into her 70s and 80s. She enjoyed and excelled at bowling, gardening and enjoyed camping. Her proudest role was that of mother, mamaw, sister and great friend to many.

Janelle is preceded in death by beloved husband of 73 years, Roy Henry, infant daughter Lynette Daphne Abercrombie, grandson Rob Westmoreland and brother Temple Davis.

Survivors include daughters: Helen (David) Stuart, of Jasper, Karen (Claude) Wright, of Ellijay; grandchildren: Benjamin (Kristin) Stuart, Christopher Flood and Hannah (Charlie) Bruce; great-grandchildren Henry, Everett, Ryker, Skylar, Ellavee and Bennett; sister, Elgaree Farist, niece Cynthia Vautrot, nephew, Larry Farist, along with several great-nephews, nieces and dear cousins.

The funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022, at 3 p.m., at the
Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lamar Beason, the Rev. Russell Hood and the Rev. Eddie Kerr officiating.

Christopher Flood, Benjamin Stuart, Charlie Bruce, Larry Farist, B.J. Clampitt, Chad Luther and Ronnie Vautrot served as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers were Larry Mulkey, Byron Abercrombie, Jim Fendley, Collin Sanford, Cameron Sanford, Michael Bramlett, Tony Withrow, Dewell Sanford, Mickey Brinkley, Jay Smith, Bobby Abercrombie, Travis Hughes, John Reece and Ronnie Abercrombie.

Interment followed at the Pleasant Gap Baptist Church Cemetery where the Rev. Billy Dotson presided.

A special thanks to Compassus Hospice who took such good care of our mom during her declining health.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pleasant Gap Cemetery Fund or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in memory of Janelle Abercrombie.
