NBC 6’s Jessica Vallejo has more on the sight that caught some neighbors by surprise Wednesday.

Fire rescue crews spent part of early Wednesday morning battling a fire that broke out on a large boat docked behind a Miami apartment complex.

Miami Fire Rescue Department officials said the fire started just before 3:30 a.m. at The Miami River Apartments located at 2214 Northwest North River Drive.

“I got woken up by the neighbors knocking on my door," said Jose Pinero, who lives nearby. "When I got up, I saw the boat on fire.”

Crews found a docked 30-foot vessel engulfed in flames in the rear of the complex and began working to put the fire out.

No injuries were reported and the fire was put out within 10 minutes, officials said.

Pinero said the boat's owners recently purchased it and do not live in the apartment building.

Investigators have not released details on what caused the fire or how much damage was caused but said it remains under investigation.
