The All-Star right-hander. acquired by the Seattle Mariners ahead of last week’s trade deadline, pitched eight scoreless innings in Tuesday’s 1-0 win at T-Mobile Park.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman chased Castillo ahead of the trade deadline, only to see the Cincinnati Reds trade the 29-year-old to the Mariners.
Castillo has made three starts this season against the Yankees (all in the last month) and has posted a 1.66 ERA with 23 strikeouts over 21.2 innings.
Thursday, July 14 at Yankee Stadium: 7 innings, 1 earned run, 8 strikeouts in Reds’ 7-6 win in 10 innings.
Wednesday, August 3 at Yankee Stadium: 6.2 innings, 3 earned runs, 8 strikeouts in Mariners’ 7-3 win.
Tuesday, August 9 at T-Mobile Park: 8 innings, 0 earned runs, 7 strikeout in Mariners’ 1-0, 13-inning win.

“I just kept thinking to myself, ‘What inning are we going to win? What inning are we going to win?’ Thank God we got the victory,” Castillo said through a translator.
Castillo was the first Seattle pitcher to throw eight innings this season.
