Public input needed on plans for growth in southeastern Wake County
Residents can share input Wednesday on changes coming to a fast-growing area of eastern Wake County on the border of Garner and Johnston counties.
Posted — UpdatedThe area of focus is the Lower Swift Creek Community (shown in dark purple). Wake County planners have been working on a development plan for months, and Wednesday's meeting is meant to include the community in the conversation.
Lower Swift Creek is one of six areas in Wake County being developed under a new plan, which will impact homes, buildings, streets, open spaces and infrastructure. The other areas that will go through the same process in the next two years include the Eastern Watershed, Falls Lake, Middle Creek, Neuse Basin and Western Wake.
An online survey was sent out in March.
“Insight and feedback from the community are critical as we plan for the future, and I look forward to seeing where this process has taken us so far,” said Sig Hutchinson, chair of the Wake County Board of Commissioners. “I encourage residents to continue to play an active role in shaping this area plan as we move forward.”
