Drag brunch, Sinatra tribute and more things to do at the Jersey Shore this weekend

Grab your friends and order tickets for "Fierce! A Drag Brunch" taking place Saturday at Talula's, 550 Cookman Ave. in Asbury Park.

There will be two seatings, one at 10 a.m. and another at 12:30 p.m. The show will be hosted by Lady Celestina, feature appearances by Octavia Anyae and Lady Keyante, and include a special food and drink menu.

Tickets, which cost $25 per person, can be purchased at resy.com.

Project R.E.A.L. hosts art show

Project R.E.A.L., which provides a safe space for younger members of the LGBTQ+ community in Asbury Park as part of the Visiting Nurse Association’s Prevention Resource Network, hosts “Hitting the Jackpot: A QTPOC Art Show” from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at its Fourth Avenue headquarters.

The event celebrating marginalized voices and exploring artistic expression will feature painting, live music and poetry. Free refreshments will be served.

Victorian Day and Illumination Night in Ocean Grove

Illumination Night returns to the Ocean Grove section of Neptune on Friday, Aug. 12.

The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association will celebrate Victorian Day and Illumination Night on Friday and Saturday in the Ocean Grove section of Neptune.

Celebrating Ocean Grove’s Victorian-era heritage, the festivities will include an 8 p.m. Friday stroll through Auditorium Square, where there will be tents decorated with lanterns and lights, and live music from Elizabeth Rajcok and Raphael & Aly.

Events starting noon Saturday include live music, self-guided walking tours, games, rides and a screening of Buster Keaton’s “Our Hospitality” in the Great Auditorium, with live organ accompaniment by Ben Model at 8:30 p.m.

ManaFirkin Brewing Co. hosts '60s and '90s nights

ManaFirkin Brewing Co. in the Manahawkin section of Stafford hosts tributes to the 1990s and the 1960s this weekend.

ManaFrikin Brewing Co. is turning back the clock for some good times this weekend.

The brewery, located in the Manahawkin section of Stafford, is calling on folks to "slap on your bucket hat, lace up those combat boots, throw on a fanny pack" and come on out from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday for its '90s Party.

ManaFirkin's going even further back for its first Firkstock, a totally groovy gathering featuring live music from local Grateful Dead tribute band Lovelight (a new tie-dye T-shirt made by Jetty is available). The music and good times start at noon on Sunday.

John Pizzarelli sings Sinatra live

One Jersey guy is set to celebrate another as singer and guitarist John Pizzarelli sings the catalog of Frank Sinatra on Thursday night at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center in Deal Park.

Pizzarelli, who opened for Sinatra on his 1993 international tour, has paid tribute to the iconic crooner twice on record, with 2006’s “Dear Mr. Sinatra” and 2017’s “Sinatra & Jobim @ 50.”

'Doo Wop, Pop and Soul Generations' brings new takes on classics to PBS

Singer Chris Ruggiero will be featured on the special "Doo Wop, Pop and Soul Generations," airing Saturday on PBS as part of TJL Productions' "My Music" series.

Chris Ruggiero, the 23-year-old New York City-based singing sensation, is making a name for himself bringing fresh life to pop and rock classics from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s.

Ruggiero will be featured this weekend on the PBS special “Doo Wop, Pop and Soul Generations,” airing 7 p.m. Saturday on local station Thirteen.

Part of the “My Music” series produced by TJ Lubinsky’s TJL Productions, the special filmed in Asbury Park finds Ruggiero singing classics such as Harry Nilsson’s “One,” the Cyrkle’s “Red Rubber Ball” and the Righteous Brothers’ “Unchained Melody.”

That's because Mario Lopez, who played A.C. Slater on the hit TV show, is coming through the Oasis Pool and Day Club at the Headliner in Neptune starting at noon Sunday.

Wooddrowe and Angelo the Kid will provide the beats through 8 p.m. Stop by and say hello to Lopez, who has the latest tea on celebs, thanks to his hosting of TV's “Extra.” Swimwear is suggested but not required.

The cover is $15, but ladies are free until 3 p.m.
