Anthony Davis is one of the best big men in the game when he is healthy. He is versatile on both ends of the floor, capable of scoring from a variety of areas on offense while being an elite rim protector and multi-positional defender. Even though he had a down season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony Davis still managed to average 23.2 PPG, 9.9 RPG, and 3.1 APG.

There is no doubt that at his peak, Anthony Davis was a superstar-caliber player capable of shouldering an entire offense. There have been some suggestions that he would be the one to take over as the No. 1 option on the Los Angeles Lakers in the past.

It seems as though new coach Darvin Ham will give Anthony Davis the opportunity to be the focal point of the Lakers' offense. A report by Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports revealed that this is the "one wrinkle" that Darvin Ham will "implement and stick with", adding that the franchise believes Anthony Davis will be "in optimum shape to avoid serious injuries and carry a heavier load".

Furthermore, the first-year head coach said one wrinkle he will implement and stick with is having the offense run through Anthony Davis, and James concurred, sources said. The team has been encouraged with Davis’ offseason progression and believe he’ll be in optimum shape to avoid serious injuries and carry a heavier load.

Anthony Davis is unquestionably talented, and we'll see if he is able to become a player that can be the main offensive option for the Los Angeles Lakers. On some level, that is a necessity, as LeBron James is not going to get any younger.

Hopefully, we see the Los Angeles Lakers get back to the playoffs next year. Perhaps next year is the year we see Anthony Davis truly blossom as a No. 1 option and potentially become an MVP-caliber player that can dominate the entire league.
