2 pedestrians struck, killed on Columbia Turnpike

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Two people have died after a serious crash in East Greenbush Tuesday night, the fire chief confirmed. The crash took place in the area of Columbia Turnpike at Phillips Road.

Both victims were pedestrians. Investigators could be seen reconstructing the crash. A station wagon remained at the scene. It had a broken windshield, and it’s front end was pushed in. According to police, the driver fully cooperated and there is no reason to suspect alcohol or drugs were involved.

Columbia Turnpike is closed in both directions from Phillips Road to Corliss Avenue until further notice. Motorists should seek alternate routes.

The victims’ identities have not been released, yet. The crash remains under investigation.
