Man arrested after threats to the University of the Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) – A man has been arrested after allegedly calling and threatening a Williamsburg university Tuesday.

A statement from the Williamsburg Police Department said, at around 5:12 p.m. on Tuesday, Dustin Collins Burchett of Somerset called the University of the Cumberlands and threatened a shooting.

“The on-duty WPD campus unit was contacted along with additional officers who responded and met with UC operations staff. A preliminary investigation indicates a male placed a call to the university making a threat that indicated he was going execute a shooting on the campus,” polic e said in a statement .

The caller was identified as 35-year-old Burchett and located in Somerset where Kentucky State Police and the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office worked to take him into custody.

Burchett was being held in the Pulaski County Detention Center and was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening.
