A sports management company based in Connecticut has filed a federal lawsuit against Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson after it claims Johnson violated a contract by not appearing at a youth football camp in May.According to the lawsuit, Johnson signed an agreement with FlexWork Sports Management in November of 2021 to host a youth football camp in Pittsburgh called "FlexWork Sports Youth Camp presented by Diontae Johnson."The camp was held on May 22. The company said 230 campers, ages 6 to 16, purchased tickets for the event starting at $125 each, and thousands more was spent leading up to the event. The company claims to have lost more than $36,000 in refunds alone.According to the lawsuit, Johnson's representatives notified the company of Johnson's absence 13 minutes before the scheduled start of the camp. The company claims Johnson's representatives said the wide receiver's flight from Florida was canceled and "Johnson was rebooked on another flight shortly thereafter, but that Johnson did not want to wait for his new flight time so he left the airport."No hearing has been set in the case. Pittsburgh's Action News 4 has reached out to representatives for Johnson and the attorney representing FlexWork Sports Management, but so far have not heard back.Johnson did tweet Wednesday "always two sides to a story."
