(WWJ) – There’s nothing quite like a Michigan summer day on the Great Lakes. It’s long been a summertime favorite for Michiganders and tourists alike.

But if you’re not aware of your surroundings, things can sure take a turn in a hurry. That’s been the case this summer, with more than 70 drownings across Michigan. Most recently, a couple drowned in Lake Michigan near South Haven, and on Tuesday a man’s body was pulled from Anchor Bay.

It’s a reminder that those big lakes are gorgeous, but they can also be deadly. In a new edition of the Daily J podcast, WWJ’s Zach Clark takes a look at what’s behind the danger on the water and what can be done to prevent future tragedy.
