A wanted Nashville man was arrested in Murfreesboro Tuesday morning while driving a stolen SUV.
A Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) lieutenant contacted the Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) Criminal Investigations Division detective about a stolen 2022 Ford Bronco and the owner used Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking to find the vehicle in Murfreesboro around 9 a.m., according to MPD.
When an MNPD AirOne helicopter pilot found the stolen SUV at an apartment complex on Brown Dr. in Murfreesboro, they waited till MPD arrived.
Alan Hairston, 23, of Nashville jumped out of the Bronco and led MPD on a foot chase. He tossed a handgun that turned out to be stolen during the chase.
MPD, along with Middle Tennessee State University Police, took the man into custody around 9:30 a.m. on Old Lascassas Pike.
Hairston is charged with theft over $50,000, theft under $1,000, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and evading arrest. MNPD also has seven active warrants on Hairston.
Hairston is being held on a $35,000 bond at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. A hearing is set for Dec. 5 in Rutherford County General Sessions Court.
The SUV was released to the owner.
