A northeast Missouri murder suspect continues to evade capture, but law enforcement officers told KTVO Tuesday that they won't quit looking until they catch him.
As we've been telling you, local, state and federal law enforcement agencies are searching for Jesse Rongey, of Kirksville.
He is wanted for the July 5, 2022, murder and mutilation of Stephen Munn, 54, of Kirksville.
"We will not call off the search for Rongey until he is placed under arrest," Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Justin Barlow told KTVO Tuesday.
"The United States Marshal Service, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the Adair County Sheriff’s Office are all committed to keeping the members of the community safe by continuing the search until Rongey is in custody," Barlow said.
“Law enforcement officers have and will continue to follow investigative leads developed by investigators and members of the community on the possible whereabouts of Jesse Rongey.”
The intense manhunt for Rongey started the evening of July 29, 2022, and it has continued since then.
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Investigators believe he is armed with three firearms.
A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to his capture.
