2nd fatal pedestrian traffic collision of 2022 occurs near Victor Valley College

Sheriff’s officials reported that a predawn traffic collision on Tuesday resulted in the death of a male pedestrian near Victor Valley College in Victorville.

A pre-dawn traffic collision on Tuesday resulted in the death of a pedestrian near Victor Valley College in Victorville. 

The incident is the second pre-dawn pedestrian fatality on Bear Valley Road near Victor Valley College in less than five months.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the call of a single vehicle versus a pedestrian at 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday, sheriff’s spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez told the Daily Press.

The collision occurred on Bear Valley Road, just west of Jacaranda Avenue and near the entrance to Victor Valley College.

The unidentified male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, Rodriguez said.

Witnesses told the Daily Press that the male driver of a white pickup truck remained at the scene during the investigation, which closed a portion of Bear Valley Road for hours.

March fatality

On March 29, a 28-year-old woman from Barstow was fatally struck by a vehicle near Victor Valley College.

Victorville Sheriff Station officials reported that at 4:12 a.m., deputies responded to a vehicle-versus-pedestrian traffic collision near the intersection of Bear Valley and Mojave Fish Hatchery roads. The Victorville Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel also responded to the scene. 

Upon arrival, deputies and medical personnel located the pedestrian and pronounced her dead.

Deputies with the Victorville Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team learned that the pedestrian was struck in the westbound lanes of Bear Valley Road, just west of Mojave Fish Hatchery Road.

The driver involved remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators.
