COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Koshkonong, Missouri man who allegedly stole over $8,000 worth of merchandise from the Midway Antique Mall on Sunday morning was arrested and charged on Monday.

A Boone County prosecutor has charged Thomas Kazimir with second-degree burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.

Kamizir allegedly broke into the store through a back door. Court documents show the suspect broke glass cases to steal merchandise from 17 separate victims reporting a total loss of over $8,000. Two revolvers were also stolen during the burglary, according to the probable cause report.

Just after 8 p.m., an employee at the Midway Travel Plaza reported seeing the suspect from the burglary in a black truck.

A Boone County Sheriff's deputy stopped the truck and saw that Kazimir was wearing the same shorts as the suspect wore in surveillance footage and the same tool pouch was in the car. The deputy also reportedly saw a baggie with a cut straw and a white crystalline substance consistent with meth in the vehicle. Also in plain view were coins with prices listed on them, according to the probable cause statement.

Kazimir is currently in the Boone County Jail being held without bond. Kazimir's bond was denied as he is currently on probation.

Kazimir has a confined docket hearing scheduled for August 17 and a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 15.
