Negotiation is an art form. Meanwhile, the NBA’s front offices are filled with some of the greatest artists in the world.
No General Manager is looking to do a deal that doesn’t suit them. Getting fleeced in a trade will establish a reputation for a GM that will make it harder to do their job down the line.
Indeed, an NBA general manager needs to command respect. That may be part of the reason why we haven’t seen a Kevin Durant trade yet. The Nets, and opposing GMs alike, may be holding out for the best deal possible.
