Odin School Superintendent Belinda Kirgan says a multi-million dollar renovation of the three-story high school building and other improvements will be ready for students when they return to class on Friday.

Kirgan gave an update at the school board meeting Monday night.

“We are supposed to start on Friday and they assure us everything will be ready.  We are getting very close and the building looks very good.  Our custodians have done very well to keep it clean.  We just have a few touch-up items to do and a few minor details we need to finish up that they will do on weekends when the students aren’t around.”

Kirgan is pleased with how the renovation of the high school has gone.

Teachers will be given time during two days of workshops to start the school year to get their classrooms back in order before students return.

The board was also told the school would dismiss at 2:15 every Wednesday to give teachers a chance to work together and to give a number of new teachers a chance to work with the more experienced staff.

The board acted on a number of personnel issues.

Resignations were accepted from Mike Murphy, Natalie Williamson, Oryssa Uhls, and Kayte Branch.

The board hired Tippie Haarmann as Odin Ambassador, Mike Riggs as elementary PE, Denise Wolf as 5th-grade teacher, Anya Kelly as elementary special education teacher, Vanessa Williams as High School and Junior High Cross Country Coach, and Kari Towa, Crystal Kuhls Stacey Wiebler, Chelsea Wilder, Carrie Moore and Nurissa Brannon as paraprofessionals.   Cheryl Alvey was hired as a long-term sub.
