Authorities are asking for your help after two ATMs were destroyed and cash was stolen in Southwest Virginia recently.
According to Virginia State Police, the first incident occurred at 1 a.m. on July 30. The ATM in the drive-through lane of the New Peoples Bank in the 100 block of Main Street in Haysi was destroyed, but no cash was taken, police said.
The second incident occurred at 2 a.m. on Aug. 8, 2022. Using the same tactics, the ATM at the New Peoples Bank on Route 460 (22400 block of Anchorage Street) in Grundy was destroyed and robbed of its cash.
Both thefts were carried out by the same three people, according to police. A dark-colored, 2018-2022 Toyota Camry with Florida plates was associated with the Haysi ATM robbery. There is also evidence that an F-250 pickup truck was also involved in both thefts, police added.
Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call Virginia State Police at 276-228-3131 or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
