OTSEGO COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A Gaylord man has been arrested for throwing a large rock from a moving vehicle and injuring a young girl, according to Michigan State Police.
Brandon Clifton, 31, has been arraigned for one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, one count malicious destruction of personal property over $1,000 but less than $20,000 and littering -- object in vehicle path.
His bond was set at $2,000 cash surety.
At 7:26 p.m. on August 6, MSP troopers were dispatched to McCoy Road in Bagley Township for an alleged assault.
A rock was thrown by Clifton at a truck travelling behind them and the rock ricocheted off the truck and went through the windshield of a Dodge Caravan traveling in the opposite direction, MSP said.
The driver of the truck and his girlfriend, along with her two children, were traveling on Plywood Road, MSP said.
The couple saw the girlfriend's ex-boyfriend, Clifton, driving a Jeep in the opposite direction, MSP said. Clifton saw them, slammed on the brakes, spun around and followed them.
While on McCoy Road, Clifton passed them and "suddenly spiked" his brakes, MSP said. Clifton then threw a large rock in the path of the truck.
The rock ricocheted off the truck and went through the windshield of a Dodge Caravan driving in the opposite direction, MSP said.
A seven-year-old girl in the back seat sustained minor injuries due to flying glass, MSP said.
The rock was recovered as evidence and Clifton was lodged in the Otsego County Jail.
