EVAN: THIS UNFOLDED IN A NEIGHBORHOOD NEAR NORTHWEST 122ND AND WESTERN. KOCO’S ANDY WEBER JOINING US LIVE FROM THE SCENE. ANDY, WHAT DO WE KNOW RIGHT NOW? E ANDY: EVAN, ZACH, POLICE WERE FIRST CALLED OUT HERE JUST BEFORE 10:30 THIS MORNING, TO THE REPORT OF A MAN WAVING A GUN AROUND, WHILE STANDING ON THE FRONT PORCH OF A HOME. POLICE WERE CALLED BY THE OWNER, WHO WASN’T HOME, BUT SAW IT ALL THROUGH A SECURITY CAMERA. POLICE UNABLE TO GIVE US SPECIFIC TIMELINES OF HOW EVENTS PLAYED OUT BUT WERE TOLD OFFICERS ARRIVED HERE AT 10:21 A.M. TO NORTHWEST 129TH TERRACE. POLICE BEGAN TALKING WITH HIM. THE MAN APPARENTLY NOT RESPONDING TO COMMANDS. POLICE SAY THAT MAN EVENTUALLY FIRED HIS WEAPON AT LEAST ONCE. THE OFFICERS THEN OPENING FIRE AND SHOOTING AND WOUNDING THE MAN. HE WAS TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL. NO OFFICERS WERE INJURED WE DON’T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE MAN THAT WAS APPARENTLY ARMED, OTHER THAN THAT HE IS A FORMER ACQUAINTANCE OF THE HOMEOWNER. OKC OFFICERS WERE STILL HERE ON NORTHWEST 129 TH TERRACE, SOME HOURS AFTER THE ORIGINAL CALL. CAPT. LITTLEJOHN: OUR INVESTIGATORS COME OUT, AND THEY’LL START HANDLING THE CRIME SCENE, OUR CRIME SCENE UNIT, AND PROCESSING EVIDENCE AND DOING INTERVIEWS. A man was taken to a hospital after exchanging gunfire with police Tuesday afternoon in an Oklahoma City neighborhood.Around 10:20 a.m., police received a call about a man waving a gun around while standing on the front porch of a home in the 1400 block of Northwest 129th Terrace, near Western Avenue and Northwest 122nd Street. The homeowner, who wasn’t home, told police they saw it all through a security camera.Officers started talking to the man, who police said wasn’t responding to commands.The man eventually fired his weapon at least once, authorities said. An officer opened fire, shooting and wounding the man.Crews took the man to a hospital. His condition is unknown.Police said no officers were injured.Authorities have not released many details about the man but said he is a former acquaintance of the homeowner.“Our investigators come out, and they’ll start handling the crime scene, our crime scene unit and processing evidence and doing interviews,” Capt. Valerie Littlejohn said.The officer who fired at the man will be placed on paid administrative leave.
