LIBERTY — Bryan Morgan Benner passed away July 30, 2022, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, after years of heart problems and diabetes. He was born November 8, 1953, at Miles Hospital in Damariscotta, the son of Otis Bryan Benner and Gladys Viola Cushman.

He attended schools in Waldoboro and graduated in 1972 there. He had great knowledge of history when in high school, and his younger cousins would call him when they needed answers to historical questions.

Following high school, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Alaska. After serving in the Army, he enlisted in the Navy, stationed in Florida and San Diego, California.

While in California he attended college and received a degree in business. He was active in church and spent time in Haiti. He also opened a Christian bookstore for one year before returning to Maine. Bryan resided with his parents for many years before having an apartment in Old Town and Liberty, Maine. He was always active in church and was generous to church organizations. He studied his bible daily. He found a wonderful church home at Liberty Baptist Church.

Bryan was predeceased by both of his parents; his brother Douglas Benner; his niece Nichole Benner; his uncles, Frank and Harold Cushman; aunts, Sylvia Buck and her husband Lawrence, Eleanor Martin, Anita Benner; cousins Michael Buck, Ronald Benner, Steven Benner, Morgan Benner, and Kathy Benner.

Bryan is survived by his brother Craig Benner of Glenburn; his sister, Emily Benner of Milford; his uncles Ronald Benner of Union, Robert Benner of Waldoboro, Sherman Cushman and his wife, Alice of Friendship, Carroll Martin of Nobleboro; his nieces Maria Cox and her husband Mike of Waldoboro, Amy Collins and husband Andy of Maine, Heather O’Brien and her husband Shane and their daughter Kingsley of Hermon, Donna Jillson of Rockland; cousins Teresa Bailey, Darlene Griesenbrock and her husband Jan of Waldoboro, Darrell Martin of St. George, Randall Benner of Union, Daniel Benner of Alabama, Deborah Walker of Waldoboro, Theresa Cousins of Blue Hill, and Melissa Mason of Washington.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 17, at 11 a.m., at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Section J.

Pastor Ian Jewett, of Liberty Baptist Church, will be officiating.
