A woman accused in the death of an elderly Plainview-area man is capable of standing trial, a judge ruled Tuesday.

Kristina Nichole Hoffpauir, 34, faces a first-degree murder charge in the August 2019 death of Sherwood Emanual Doyle, 81.

Doyle's body was found in his home, and Hoffpauir was arrested by the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office on Aug. 6, 2019.

Two doctors differed on Hoffpauir's mental state, so a third doctor was brought in to evaluate her. That report hadn't been turned in as of mid-July, so a hearing was continued to Tuesday.
