Man shot in Rock Falls Tuesday morning, police say

A man was injured in a shooting Tuesday morning in Rock Falls, police said.

ROCK FALLS, Ill. (KWQC) - A man was injured in a shooting Tuesday morning in Rock Falls, police said.

Around 10:13 a.m., officers were called to a home in the 900 block of West 5th Street and found a 30-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to his body and extremities, police said in a media release. He was transported to CGH Medical Center in Sterling and underwent surgery before being transferred to OSF St. Anthony in Rockford.

Police said he is in serious condition.

A handgun was recovered at the scene. An individual was initially detained but no charges are pending at this time, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.

Rock Falls police are being assisted by the Sterling Police Department, Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, and Illinois State Police.
