Morgan & Morgan law firm announced Tuesday they've been retained by the family of 23-year-old Hayden Jones, Jr. He died July 7 on Mobile Highway near Boulder Ave.
Florida Highway Patrol initially investigated his death as gun violence. Troopers later discovered he'd been hit by shrapnel when his air bag went off.
Morgan & Morgan issued a statement Tuesday saying they believe Ford bears a brunt of the responsibility for installing the faulty air bag.
We have handled more than 100 incidents involving Takata airbags, but the cases never become less tragic. At just 23 years old, Mr. Jones’ young life was cut short by the catastrophic failure and explosion of a device that was meant to protect him. We believe that Ford bears the brunt of the responsibility for Mr. Jones’ untimely death. When automakers choose profits over consumer safety, it costs innocent lives. We will continue to investigate this crash, work to hold all responsible parties accountable, and obtain justice for Mr. Jones, his family, and those who love and miss him dearly.
