Missing Baltimore woman & grandson found in Anne Arundel County

BALTIMORE -- A Baltimore woman and her grandson were found Tuesday morning, five days after they were reported missing.

Marthann Davis, 72, and her 4-year-old grandson, Ashton, were found about 8:30 a.m. on Avenue in Millersville. Police said they were taken to an area hospital.

"He might not even be able to tell us exactly what happened. I just know he was able to make it out," Jonathan Davis, Ashton's father and Marthann's son, said Wednesday. "Under the circumstances, it's a miracle."

Ashton was a couple miles away, drinking water from a hose, his parents said. He was tired and hungry with several bug bites, but has otherwise recovered.

"He had Oreos, Cheetos, sodas, juices, water. He's been eating nonstop," Brittaney Spratley, Ashton's mother, said.

The Millersville property owner noticed Marthann's red Kia Soul parked behind his trailer. Jonathan said it was out of gas.

Marthann had shown some signs of memory loss, but Jonathan said she had always been dependable. She remains hospitalized in Anne Arundel County, but is physically doing well, her son said.

Dozens of family and friends scoured the region handing out and posting Missing posters of the pair. Ashton's parents are relieved for all the help.

"They came out in numbers. I'm talking about so much support," Jonathan said.

Ashton's parents said the two were spotted at a McDonald's near Reisterstown Road and Coldspring Lane and Davis' Kia was later seen near the corner of Reisterstown Road and Patterson Avenue.

It wasn't immediately clear what led to the pair's disappearance. As WJZ previously reported, loved ones expressed concerns that a medical emergency or a storm-related incident might be to blame.
