Duncansville Man Facing Charges

Authorities with the Blair Township Police Department have charged a Duncansville man after he was accused of strangling a woman and hitting a child during a domestic dispute.

Police say Joshua Guyer, 41, faces numerous charges including felony strangulation, witness/victim intimidation, child endangerment and reckless endangerment, according to online court records.

Investigators say on Sunday, August 7, police were dispatched to a residence, located along Cedarcrest Drive, for a report of a physical domestic disturbance.

Police say, according to the victim, she and Guyer were arguing when he allegedly grabbed her by the head and neck area, and placed her into a “headlock.”

Authorities say Guyer then allegedly threw the victim to the ground, prompting the victim’s 12-year-old child to come to her aid.

Police say the child began yelling at Guyer and attempted to use the victim’s phone to call 911.

Investigators say, according to the victim, Guyer “forcefully” grabbed the phone from the child, causing a scratch mark on the child’s chest.

Police say Guyer then reportedly smacked the child across the face, the affidavit states.

Authorities say the victim then shoved Guyer to the ground and began to defend herself from him, at which time Guyer left the residence.

Police say Guyer was taken into custody at a relative’s home a short time later and is being housed at the Blair County Prison, on $75,000 bail, court dockets show.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 16.
