A shakeup in a slightly different area of the midlands early Tuesday morning.

The latest in a string of midlands earthquakes was detected early Tuesday morning, but this time in a different part of the Columbia area.

The US Geological Survey says this light 1.6 magnitude earthquake occurred 4 miles beneath the surface in the Boykin area just before 2am.

This quake was roughly 21 miles east of Elgin and 17 miles southeast of Lugoff, which are the areas most of the earthquakes in the midlands have been.

There have been over 60 earthquakes in the midlands since the beginning of the year, with roughly half of those occurring within the past two months.
