A public meeting to discuss a planned subdivision in Columbia Falls has been moved to the junior high cafeteria to accomodate more people.
The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The proposal would build 455 housing units on 49 acres near Highway 2 and River Road.
The developer also is proposing to move River Road further east on Highway 2, and put in a traffic signal there.
A group called Flathead Families for Responsible Growth says that the plans would extend city sewer and water down Highway 2 and across the Flathead River. The group says this could pave the way for more future development of the area.
More than 100 people showed up to give public comment at a meeting last month, and most showed opposition, so the City Council postponed the hearing and moved it to the junior high to accomodate everyone.
A special meeting is also scheduled for Aug. 22 at the junior high.
