Larry Joe Karr Sr., 81, of Merryville, La., passed from this life on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022.
Larry Joe was a fighter from birth, losing his father at six weeks old, suffering a terrible injury before he was two, spending much of his childhood undergoing surgeries, and later in life serious health issues that could have ended his beautiful life long before now. Instead, God allowed us to keep him.
He spent 62 years with the love of his life, raised four amazing children, 10 grandchildren and six and a half great-grandchildren.
Larry and Carolyn owned Sabine Drug where he served as pharmacist to the hometown he so deeply loved. His love of baseball led to being instrumental in developing Dixie Youth Baseball in Merryville. Larry loved his church and shared his beautiful voice singing in the church choir. Some of his favorite times were spent on the Sabine River with his camp crew. Family was everything to him and his best days were when they were all together.
He made friends everywhere he went and it eases our hearts to know that now he’s laughing with Jesus, the best friend he’s ever had.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Carolyn Karr of Merryville, La.; son, Jody Karr and Landa of Newton, Texas; daughters, Monya Porter and David of Leesville, La., Marla Bourgeois and Dwight of Buna, Texas, Kalon Cameron and Vince of Brandon, Miss.; brother, Dr. Leonard McWilliams and Cindy of DeRidder, La.; sister, Eva Stark and Pard of Merryville, La.; brother-in-law, Jim Deason of Deweyville, Texas; sister-in-law, Lillian Karr of DeQuincy, La.; grandchildren, Karra Aymond and Dr. David Aymond, Trace Porter, Kaleb Bourgeois, Kade Bourgeois and Rayven, Kali Walker and Burk, Colin Karr and Reagan, Brennan Karr and Kelsey, Evan Karr, Emily Hebert, Christian Cameron; great-grandchildren, Alivia, Anna, Kylie, Kash, Noah, Dani; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
