CLARKSDALE — The Oak Hill Academy softball team suffered a tough extra-inning, walk-off loss to Lee Academy in Monday’s road game.
The Raiders took the lead in the top of the ninth on a Harley Vaughn sacrifice fly but allowed two runs in the bottom of the frame, falling 9-8. With runners on first and second, Alyssa Vassel plated both runs on a two-out, winning hit for the Fillies.
Oak Hill broke a scoreless tie with a run in the fourth inning, but Lee responded with five runs in the frame.
The Raiders cut the deficit to one, allowed two more runs in the fifth but scored two in the sixth and another in the seventh to tie the game.
Oak Hill’s next game is at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Kirk Academy in West Point.
Pillow Academy 11, Starkville Academy 0, four innings
GREENWOOD — Starkville Academy was shut out 11-1 on the road Monday at Pillow Academy.
The Volunteers managed just four hits, two of which were by Elizabeth Basel. The Mustangs won on the run rule in four innings.
Starkville Academy hosts Calhoun Academy at 6 p.m. Tuesday

LeTourneau makes hole-in-one at Elm Lake
Bob LeTourneau aced the eighth hole at Elm Lake Golf Course on Saturday.
LeTourneau used an 8-iron for his hole-in-one from 153 yards out.
Williams Slade and Ben Henry witnessed the feat.
