Thrive's annual Stuff the Bus a success for Alamogordo kids in need
School supply donations filled a school bus during Thrive in Southern New Mexico's annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive.
Thrive in Southern New Mexico accepted donated school supplies and monetary donations toward school supplies at a two-day event at the Alamogordo Wal-Mart Supercenter, 233 South New York Avenue, on Aug. 5-6.
There were enough supplies donated to fill more than 300 backpacks for the Grace United Methodist Church, 1206 Greenwood Lane in Alamogordo, backpack giveaway.
"This is such a great event because we will collect the school supplies and then hand them over to Grace United Methodist Church and then they hand out the backpacks with the school supplies on Aug. 14 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.," Thrive in Southern New Mexico Executive Director Stephanie Hale said. "We're just super thrilled that we get to partner with everyone again this year."
From January 2022:Thrive in Southern New Mexico raised $440,000 in 2021 for local non-profits
Also at the event were Alamogordo Police Department, Grace United Methodist Church and Grand Canyon University.
