BROOKINGS, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) – South Dakota State football opened practice last week with a new look on the coaching staff.
Zach Lujan (Loo-Haun) will take over as the Jackrabbits’ offensive coordinator while continuing to coach the team’s quarterbacks, Ryan Olson moved to offensive line coach and has added the title of run game coordinator, Jimmy Rogers has been named the team’s sole defensive coordinator and defensive line coach and Christian Smith has added defensive run game coordinator to his duties.

Jackrabbits Coach John Stiegelmeier says it’s essential to not only get their players but their coaches reps before the season starts:

Lujan (Loo-Haun) takes over the offensive coordinator position from Jason Eck who was hired earlier this year at Idaho. Stiegelmeier describes how he thinks the offensive will be different this season under Lujan:

South Dakota State will open its season at Iowa on September 3rd. Jackrabbit football can be heard this year on Watertown Radio’s sister station 910AM The Ranch.
