On Saturday, Aug. 6, the Ponca City Fire and Life Safety Council and the Ponca City Fire Foundation teamed up to hold their “All Fired Up” fundraiser banquet and auction. All Fired Up is the only fundraiser that they do and all of the profits go back into the fire department to better the community. This money is used to support things like the new training center, free car seat checks, fire prevention programs in the community’s schools, and more. They had a great turnout and were completely sold out of tickets, thanks to the community.

Behind the scenes, the firefighters were having a little friendly competition over which team were the grillmasters. The firefighters were broken out into three groups and given a team color to correspond. After they had finished cooking, their steaks were taken and cut into thirds so that everyone in the room could try all three steaks and vote on which was better. There was friendly trash talking about who was going to win, as well as many laughs and an overall good time.

A member of the Ponca City Fire and Life SafetyCouncil said, “ [All Fired Up] is really like two events in one, we get to do the fundraising and they get to have some time to really bond.”

Local businesses donated items for their auction and many sponsors pitched in to make this night possible. That includes Osage Casino who graciously offered to host the event in their banquet room. This is where guests gathered to enjoy their meal of steak, baked potatoes, and salad.
