2023 La Grange (Tex.) High four-star cornerback Bravion Rogers announced he will be backing off his pledge to Texas A&M and re-opening his recruitment in a statement released late Monday night.

“I want to thank Texas A&M and the coaching staff for the opportunity they have given me,” he said on Twitter. “Also thanks to all of the fans for the love and support. But after long talks with my family I have decided to decommit from Texas A&M University. Wish nothing but the best to Aggieland. Thank y’all.”

Rogers decision comes four months, nearly to the day, that he originally committed to Texas A&M back in April. Rogers committed to the Aggies just two weeks after landing an offer from the program, but had continued to evaluate other options. The four-star out of La Grange visited LSU, Texas multiple times, Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Alabama over the years, looking to feel out the best fit for him. Even after committing, he stated he had always planned to take his five official visits in the fall and ensure he made the right decision.

Now, as the calendar turns to the fall, he will enter his recruitment with an open mind. It’s unclear what the four-star’s next move is, whether that’s a commitment elsewhere soon coming, or truly re-opening his options to evaluate what’s next in his recruitment.

With Rogers no longer in the class, Texas A&M now ranks as the No. 26 recruiting class in the country with nine total commits. The Aggies maintain the commitments of Dallas (Tex.) South Oak Cliff four-star cornerback Jayvon Thomas and Shiner (Tex.) High four-star safety Dalton Brooks in the secondary and remained involved with some of the top defensive backs in the country including Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson five-star safety Tony Mitchell, Arlington (Tex.) Martin four-star safety Javien Toviano and Zachary (La.) High four-star safety Kylin Jackson.

There will be a reset of sorts at cornerback though, with Thomas as the lone cornerback commit in the class now. Texas A&M will look to flip Thomas’ teammate and fellow four-star cornerback Dallas (Tex.) South Oak Cliff’s Malik Muhammad, who’s committed to Texas, and could get back involved with prospects like Roswell (Ga.) High four-star cornerback Ethan Nation. New offers could go out at the position as well.

Rogers ranks as the No. 37 prospect and No. 4 cornerback in the country per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $11.1k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
