Barbara Lou Proctor, 72, of Ottumwa, died at 7:28 p.m. August 5, 2022 at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.
She was born July 9, 1950 to Emil and Hazel Cutshall Allen. Barbara married Verlin Proctor June 22, 1974.
Barbara was a graduate of North Mahaska High School and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from University of Northern Iowa. She had worked over 20 years as an associate for Wilson Elementary School.
She was a member of the Wilson Elementary PTA for many years.
Barbara enjoyed clay class, quilting and was an avid knitter. She loved children and spending time with family.
Surviving is her husband Verlin: children, Marc (Amber) Proctor of Fremont, Jenni Proctor (DJ Hicks) of Marion, Eli (Karsten) Reynolds of Ottumwa; 3 grandsons Adam (Emily) Proctor, Clancy Proctor, and Emil Proctor; a great grandchild, Karter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Mario Proctor.
Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Tuesday August 9th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 10th at Reece Funeral Home. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page.
Cremation will follow funeral services. Private inurnment will be in Friends Cemetery, New Sharon.
Memorials may be made to Wilson Elementary PTA.
