For the second time in as many days, South Carolina has landed a Palmetto State product.

Westwood High’s Arden Conyers is following a trend we’ve seen over the past two weeks. That trend is staying home to play for USC. The 6-foot-6 small forward is the second class of 2023 commitment for Lamont Paris. In fact, Conyers committed to South Carolina less than a week after being offered by the Gamecocks.

According to Gamecock Central’s Collyn Taylor, USC has had an extra opportunity to evaluate Conyers, who plays for the Upward Stars program. He played this summer with Gamecock commit Collin Murray-Boyles and 2024 target KJ Greene.

Aside from the potential the Gamecocks believe he will grow into over time, they love the versatility he brings to the program. As Taylor also noted, USC sees him as someone who can play in the three and the four in Paris’ system.

Conyers joins Columbia native Murray-Boyles, who made his commitment to the Gamecocks known publicly on Sunday.

More from Collyn Taylor:

In talking with Conyers, the Gamecocks are planning on using him in a lot of different ways when he’s ready to contribute.

He’ll be able to be a spot up shooter while also being someone who can be in a ball screen and attack the rim. If he continues to grow, his length will be something the Gamecocks can use to their advantage on both ends of the floor.

His commitment speaks to Paris and his staff really wanting to try and keep in-state talent home. They landed Collin Murray-Boyles Sunday afternoon and another in-state player Monday with Conyers.
