(WFXR) — For the second time in a week, the Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center of Roanoke is asking for the community’s help because it now has two baby Bobcats to feed.

The wildlife center says it received a Bobcat kitten from Floyd County on Saturday, Aug. 6 that was not only very hungry and dehydrated, but also had a heavy load of parasites.

However, this baby Bobcat is in much better shape than the one that was rescued the week before from Lynchburg, which the facility described on Sunday, July 31 as being badly anemic, dehydrated, and covered in ticks.

The wildlife center wrote on Monday, Aug. 1 that the Lynchburg Bobcat kitten had received intensive treatment and already made leaps and bounds since his admission. Then, on Sunday, Aug. 7, the facility said he was continuing to do well.

Now, with two Bobcat kittens’ “big hungry mouths to feed,” wildlife center officials are turning to the community for help.

“Bobcats are not cheap animals to care for, on top of all the hundreds of animals that we care for at any one time,” the Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center of Roanoke stated. “With the second mammal season in full swing we are being hit by a wave of squirrels, opossums, and rabbits. Please make a donation so we can continue to do our critically important work and give these wild animals a second chance.”

If you want to make a donation to support the Bobcats’ care, you can visit the Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center’s Facebook page or website.

As of this writing, Facebook users have raised $2,949 for the Lynchburg Bobcat and $3,655 for the Floyd County Bobcat.
