Man arrested after allegedly peeking into windows of Concord home multiple times
A Concord man is behind bars after allegedly peeking into windows of a home multiple times.
He faces charges of stalking and violation of privacy and sexual gratification.
People living in the area of West Street in Concord said they're shocked this happened in their neighborhood.
They put up flyers in efforts to spread the word.
With the suspect behind bars, they said they feel some relief.
Joseph Lecouffe, 56, of Concord is at the Merrimack County House of Corrections.
Concord police said they got a report in late July that Lecouffe was peeking into the windows of a residence on West Street.
They said during the investigation, they learned he was seen at the same home multiple times.
“We were concerned," one neighbor said. "We were locking our doors and we were keeping our phones ready actually to make sure if we saw something, we would report it."
"We were definitely looking at it trying to keep our eye out because it's very shocking. We have a 7-year-old and a 13-year-old," another neighbor said.
People living on West Street took the flyers to heart and hope to restore the peace in what they call a “mellow neighborhood.”
“We sit out here all the time and there's a lot of activity, there's a lot of people walking dogs, and you know, we sit out at night a lot of times, and it’s usually people that we're pretty familiar with seeing their faces,” a neighbor said.
People in the neighborhood said it's shocking and "frightening because there's a playground right there as well."
Lecouffe was arraigned Monday in the Concord District Court and is being held on preventative detention.
The investigation is ongoing into exactly what happened.
