HARPER WOODS (WWJ) – A Warren man is facing charges after being caught red-handed trying to rob a business in Harper Woods last week.

Police officials say they got a call around 1:45 a.m. Friday of a burglary alarm at a business in the 19800 block of Kelly Road. Authorities did not disclose the name of the business.

When officers showed up nearly immediately, they found 31-year-old Anderson Avery with several items he had stolen.

While officials didn’t specify what items he had stolen, they said the stolen property was valued at more than $4,000.

Officials say the stolen property was inventoried by police then returned to the store owners.

Avery was arraigned Saturday on one count of breaking and entering a building with intent and one count of larceny in a building.

As of Monday afternoon, he was being held on bond at the Wayne County Jail. His next court date is scheduled for Aug. 24.
