PORTLAND (WGME) – The University of Maine will soon have a new athletic director.
Monday, Ken Ralph announced he was leaving Orono to become the new AD at Southwestern University.
Ralph has directed UMaine's athletic department for the past four years. His final day will be August 31.
UMaine President Joan Ferrini-Mudy says an interim AD will be named soon while a nationwide search will be launched to find Maine's next athletic director. Ralph is proud of what he was able to accomplish during his tenure.
“I’d like to think that this job is a little more attractive than it was four years ago,” Ralph said. “When you take a look at the quality of coaches that we have in place, the experience of our support staff and what’s going on with facilities, I think there’s a lot to be excited about. There’s going to be some good interest.”
