Robert Douglas Broman, 35, accused of killing 41-year-old Christopher Erinn Robb on Nov. 14 has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, a Class 2 felony; felony menacing, a Class 5 felony; possession of a weapon by a previous offender, a Class 6 felony; and third-degree assault, a Class 1 misdemeanor.
The matter is set for a jury trial, starting Jan. 18.
According to an arrest affidavit penned by Fremont County Sheriff’s Office Detective Peter Rasmussen, an eyewitness to the shooting said Broman allegedly threatened to steal her car and pointed a semi-automatic handgun at her before shooting Robb just before 9 p.m. in the 1600 block of Locust.
The witness, Kiriana Radhe, 20, reportedly had been in a brief relationship with Broman several months ago. She had gone to the house on Locust to hang out on the night of the shooting, but after Broman had threatened to steal her car, she went outside to move it.
Radhe told authorities that Broman followed her outside and hit her in the head, knocking her to the ground. She said a man named Jeff Brille then went outside and got into a physical altercation with Broman, “knocking him out.”
Once Broman got up, the affidavit states that he produced a semi-automatic handgun from a holster on his waist. Radhe told authorities that he pointed the gun at her and threatened her.
Robb then came out of the house, the affidavit states, and approached the passenger side of a vehicle, where Broman was sitting with the door closed and the window up. She said Robb began slapping the front windshield and the passenger side window before she heard a loud bang and saw a flash. She said Broman shot Robb through the passenger side window.
Robb grabbed his chest and said, “He shot me,” she told detectives. He then went into the house, where someone gave him a towel, then he went back outside and collapsed to the ground.
“Witnesses stated CPR was provided to Christopher until law enforcement arrived,” Rasmussen wrote. “Several witnesses corroborated Kiriana’s statements and indicated that Robert shot Christopher.”
At the time of the shooting, a young female known only as “Sara” was in the driver’s seat. She had arrived at the house earlier with Broman.
Broman and the car were gone by the time authorities arrived at the scene. He was taken into custody without incident near Justice Center Road the following morning.
