Girl, 16, dies in Jenison area crash

JENISON, MI -- A 16-year-old girl Hudsonville girl died in a single-vehicle rollover crash in the Jenison area, police said.

The crash happened just after 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8 on Bauer Road east of 40th Avenue.

Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene on a report of a vehicle that had rolled over several times.

Deputies arrived to find the vehicle on its roof. The driver, the 16-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the vehicle was going west on Bauer Road when, for unknown reasons, it left the road and went into a ditch on the road’s north side. It then struck a culvert, went airborne and flipped several times.

Police continue to investigate the crash.
