A Cañon City woman is in custody after reportedly falsely reporting an explosive device on Monday.
Cañon City Police Commander Elliott VanDyke said that at about noon Monday, employees of an agency located in the 3200 block of Justice Center Road called for police to investigate a suspicious package.
As officers arrived on the scene, they contacted a female subject inside the facility who was carrying an unknown black bag. Because of statements made by witnesses, officers arrested Janel Armstrong, 48, for false reporting of an explosive device, third-degree criminal trespass and second-degree criminal tampering.
