If there’s one thing Buffalo business owners are amazing at, it’s naming their establishments.

Whether it’s a restaurant, bar, retail store, or even (yup) a funeral home, we all know a clever business name can skyrocket you to local fame and send customers flocking to your location. There are plenty of uniquely-named area businesses here in Western New York, but let’s be honest - a few are downright hilarious.

The first time I ever drove past an Amigone Funeral Home location over fifteen years ago, I honestly thought it was a joke. “Are you serious?!” I exclaimed to my friend, clutching over and almost snorting,

“Yup. That’s real,” my friend who was driving said with an exasperated sigh, clearly sick of the question. “Everyone from out of town thinks it’s fake.”

Now that I live here, I’m of course used to driving past an Amigone Funeral Home several times a week; and even though seeing an Amigone sign is commonplace for me now, I still can’t help but giggle just a little when I pass one by.

When we came across this list on Reddit of hilarious business names from the Buffalo area, we literally cried tears of joy. So many of these businesses are legendary in Buffalo, and some have even sparked viral memes. We love going to many of these places (okay, admittingly there’s one we’d prefer not to), but they all have one thing in common - their names are side-splitting, and we love to say them and laugh.
