A Kalamazoo man who police said drove around Portage with his girlfriend clinging to the hood of his car faced a judge Monday.
Donald Gaddie Jr., 20, was charged with reckless driving causing serious impairment of body function.
The couple's one-year-old child was in the car when the incident took place, according to probable cause documents.

The girlfriend was on a ventilator in critical condition at the hospital Monday.
The couple got into an argument at the girlfriend's apartment in Portage, court documents said. Then as Gaddie was trying to leave, the girlfriend jumped onto the hood of his car, according to the report.
Gaddie drove his car down Oakland Drive for about two miles at speeds up to 40 mph, investigators said.
Gaddie also captured part of the incident on his cell phone video camera, police said.
Court documents said Gaddie stopped at a CITGO gas station, asking the woman to get off his car, but she refused and he kept driving.
The woman fell off the car and into the road, suffering serious injuries, investigators said.
